Spring 2022

With Spring (almost!) officially here, our new premises are progressing well, though there's plenty more to do. The mezzanine steel structure is now in place and painted, and the flooring will begin soon. We've also got windows in the workshop and a striking wall of glazing in the front of the building now.

Progress is slower than we hoped thanks to Covid and Brexit's effect on materials prices, but we're well on our way now. We're currently researching options for lifting systems to get the pianos onto the first floor when the time comes. There's also been a lot of discussion about where to position the new staircase, which will hopefully be here by the summer.

In the workshop, we are proud to be producing our usual high standard of work. We've completed full restorations on several stunning antique grand and upright pianos over the past few months, including this beautiful Bechstein. It's a favourite with all of us; as well as looking incredible - rosewood is a favourite of us all - it plays beautifully. Proof once again that with the right attention to detail and craftsmanship, top quality pianos are well worth restoring for several more generations' service! This piano is a family piece and the London-based owners are delighted with the transformation.

Out on the road, Tom is as busy as ever with numerous tunings and minor repairs to undertake, and is now the proud driver of a signwritten van which is already drawing comment (and bookings!) from people he meets on his travels.
